Julie Donovan moved to town to get a fresh start for her and her five year old daughter Annie. Her husband divorced her for adultery, even though they were technically divorced when she had a drunken one night stand five years ago with a soldier named G.

She is as shocked as Griffin is when she sees the two girls together. She wastes no time yelling at Griffin because he doesn't remember her.

He swear he never saw her before in his life, and it isn't long before the whole town is passing judgement.

Annie is the daughter of Griffin's twin brother Graham, but the townsfolk naturally assume she is Griffin's. Even though there are sparks between Julie and Griffin, it goes no further.

He is determined she planned it all out, coming to town to ensure she gets a piece of the Luckadeau money. Julie just wants to be left alone, raising her daughter.

She sure didn't plan to leap from one frying pan to the other. She may be attracted to Griffin, but he can't get past the fact she slept with his late brother, and she can't move past the fact she is six years older than him.

Super Reviewer. Rate this movie Oof, that was Rotten. I think the reason I had a hard time liking this at first was that Lucas was so defensive at first.

Especially because James was so sweet. But when James asked Lucas to come home with him, things changed for me. I never like that kind of money drama, so this was refreshing.

The dynamics between these guys was something I really liked. How young Lucas was the dominant one and James the one on his knees even though he was 14 years older.

But…… I still like my books more if the older one is the dominant one and the young one the one who needs the help and is submissive. But okay, this was nice too.

There is no angst within the relationship. These guys become friends and then lovers and stay that way. Was a little long, and I did skip some, not much.

I like these deeper books. More than just sex and romance. Something diff, something memorable. Jul 29, Caipi rated it it was amazing Shelves: m-m , lgbtq , 4-stars-and-a-half , favorites , feel-good-read , audible-wishlist , mm-gangbangq3.

But honestly, their first sex scene was one of the most intense I have read in a long time! Never has licking sweat off someone's body been described hotter than here.

I am absolutely not into BDSM but although the blurb might give some wrong ideas, this is not mainly about domination, even if power does play some part in the book.

There are many tropes that made this special: homeless guy finding a place to live and a new family, older and younger guy finding their HEA and a little bit of BDSM as well.

However, if this is what you are looking for, first and foremost, I think this will be the wrong book. For me, it was definitely the right one, I loved every page and would easily rate this 4.

This one is a long one. It's listed as pages. All pretty standard practice with both, ebooks and paper books. So, about the story. The blurb doesn't really do it justice.

But I think I know why. As I'm trying to think of what to say about the plot, most of it seems spoilerish. I'll do my best and tag anything not already mentioned in the description.

It's a cinderella-ish type of story. Not that it follows the fairytale exactly. It's not purely rags to riches, but does have that fairytale feel to it.

There is a 14 year age gap between the MCs. The story also has some mild elements of BDSM. I thought all of the secondary characters were impactful in some way.

Without talking about any spoilers, I have to say that I felt just a slight bit of squeamishness reading this story. I don't know if it was the ages of the MCs or the BDSM element or a combination of both - or maybe something else altogether.

I also felt like I had to suspend disbelief in order to really enjoy the dynamics between the MCs. Their circumstances, and actions within those circumstances, while not impossible, were mostly improbable.

However, who doesn't like a fairytale with a happy ending?! I did enjoy the story. Jun 23, Ulysses Dietz rated it it was amazing. For all that the author boasts about his steamy stories, he is relentless in his digging into the emotional depths of his characters.

What is also interesting about this, which is in my mind the best book so far, is that the sex is tightly woven into the plot, fused with the emotional development of both Lucky and James.

James is thirty-three and desperately lonely. But all he feels is empty and alone. Then, on one of his every-other-weekend jaunts to the casinos at the beach with his three straight friends, James spots a beautiful man standing by the hotel entrance.

Something catches him about this guy, and an obsession starts to grow. The great revelation of this book is not what you expect.

What the reader finds is great depths of humanity, the impulse to suppress selfish needs in order to care for someone even more desperately alone than you are.

What begins as a straightforward lust obsession transforms into something entirely different — which of course the author uses very cleverly to add a kind of kinky edge to the sexual tension that builds from the very start.

Jan 31, Ed Davis rated it liked it. He sounded more like a sexy thirty. The guy who read James sounded strange and kind of creepy.

GEE I have to 5 star this wonderful book. I just love a Daryl Banner book and this one went above and beyond!! He knows how to put so many feels into a book and make you literally swoon for all of the characters.

James first notices Lucas Lucky across the lobby of the hotel that he and his friends were checking into for the weekend. James was immediately smitten and could not get him off of his mind the whole weekend and even after he returned home.

So, he ended going back to the hotel by OH. So, he ended going back to the hotel by himself the next weekend in hopes of seeing him again. This was such a great read.

It was a beautiful long read. I don't usually go for the longer ones because I like instant gratification but with how they met and why Lucas was on the streets, it took some time to get it out there and for the reader to understand that these two weren't scamming the other.

I just fell in love with Lucas and wanted to see his life change for the better. I was cheering, in my head, that these two would give each other what they were missing in life.

Basically, someone who each could care for and more than just sexually but mentally as well. I really didn't want this book to end.

I enjoyed it that much. I was flipping those Kindle virtual pages as fast as I could because I was desperate to see what was going to happen next.

This is a total MUST read! View 1 comment. Mar 03, Rohit rated it it was ok Shelves: m-m. I don't know when I skipped the ending all together.

Maybe other things in RL came and I just forgot and for a second I was like, I don't remember the story at all.

But then I went through my notes, and yeah, it's a pretty baseless start with a horny older guy who likes to take care of the witty not so much rich-livin-on-street champ.

I'm pretty sure I was cringing a lot and trying to bide my time because I was expecting the Daryl fun, which I didn't get. I do believe Daryl can write but this I don't know when I skipped the ending all together.

I do believe Daryl can write but this one was so half-assed for me except the blowjob. That was hot stuff.

This improbable romance snuck up on me and punched me right in the feels. This love story is nuts--homeless 19 year old, closed off and suspicious, a banker worker in his 30's, lonely and kind.

Lucas is young and stuck in living on the streets. While Daryl Banner could have spent more time detailing why it is so hard to get a foothold on a job or housing once homeless, he elected to spend more time on the relationship between Lucas or Lucky and James.

The exact setting could have been clearer This improbable romance snuck up on me and punched me right in the feels. The exact setting could have been clearer and Lucas' stepmother could have been less cartoonish but this are small quibbles.

James is wildly attracted to Lucas in this character driven romance but does not wish to be someone who takes advantage and really he wants Lucas to desire him.

There is a lot of careful thought about power here, consent, and agency which is why I ended up liking this book so much and being moved by it as well.

Lucas chooses. James chooses. Yeah, there is an age gap. So, what? I love age difference romances that deal with the impact of that aspect of the relationship and this one does.

The friendships in the book as well as the family relationships are well drawn. And yeah, it is leaps of trust and fast but it makes sense and really the vulnerability of both these heroes as well as emotional intelligence despite the stuff they are wading through makes Getting Lucky a great read.

Kids in a romance story can go a couple of ways, this story had them right in the middle of everything, they were the catalyst for a lot of what happens between Julie and Griffin, the author did a great job in how she wrote them in the story, they were five years old and they acted like five year olds.

The secondary characters were awesome in this book, there were the couples from the first two books, all of their relatives, plus the towns people.

They add a lot of spice and humor to the story, making for a very entertaining read. I do have to say that the scene where Julie meets his mom and sister is one of the best scenes I have read in a while.

I read that part three times it was so entertaining. All in all I really enjoyed this book, enough so that I want to read the first two books, even though I don't have to as their stories are told in condensed form in this book.

Getting Lucky by Carolyn Brown. The dialog is an absolute joke and probably should be used for a drinking game. There are so many plot points that the story just bounces from Getting Lucky by Carolyn Brown.

There are so many plot points that the story just bounces from one crisis to the next and none are explored very deeply. This book would have been a lot better if Brown had picked a few of the crises and dealt with them more in-depth rather than racing from one to the other.

There is an actual story here, complete with plot, but the overall product needs work. Seriously if someone called me 'white-trash' often enough that their child was calling me that to my face, I don't think I'd get over it in 10 minutes by tossing my hair and stamping my foot; and he could forget about jumping my bones.

First scene in the book: New kindergarten teacher Julie is greeting kids on the first day; cowboy walks in and thinks "Wow that teacher has red hair.

My brother liked white-trash redheads, not me. It almost seems like this was a draft that got published instead of a finished story.

I may try one of her newest books to see if I like it any better. After all, Kat Martin eventually got an editor, so Brown could too. Mar 23, Sabrina rated it it was amazing.

Everything about this book stood out for me. There is so much to this story and it never seems to overwhelm. I love how Carolyn added to the story with side plots and characters instead of taking away from Griffin and Julie.

It has the timeline of a sweet romance, a way more believable timeframe where the hero and heroine really fall in love, but with the awesome hotness still sizzling between them.

This story rang true with every page I read. An insanely fantastic book, Carolyn Brown wowed me with this book and her expertise in crafting a perfect romance.

I really enjoyed Griffin, he's the perfect guy and oh so devoted to Great book. I really enjoyed Griffin, he's the perfect guy and oh so devoted to his daughter.

Julie, our heroine, I liked her for the most part. I did hate how flakey she was regarding Griffin. It took way to long for her to finally admit to herself and griffin that they were meant to be together.

I wonder if the author used this time to expand on the other characters lives and loves. The book probably could've been much shorter by expanding on Julue and griffin and much more enjoyable.

I haven't read the first two books in the trilogy yet, but hey, the author spent so much of this book on those characters and their loves, I could probably skip them and not miss out.

But I won't. I did enjoy the humor and southerness in this book. It has a lot of quirky characters.

It can be a standalone book, though I think it would be much more enjoyable if you read the other two first. I didn't note any major editing problems.

The author I is definitely gifted. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary western books. Feb 17, Wminbc rated it really liked it Shelves: cowboys.

Griffin was a bit slow on the uptake. I personally believe I would have loved Graham too! I love the take charge kind of cowboy who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to tie it up, pin it down and get a little dirty But alas, these are a not those kind of cowboy stories.

Ms Brown writes really sweet, witty and sassy romances that have you laughing and scratching your head sometimes especially at the things the old bird club says sometimes.

Julie irked me now and then. She was so h Welllll She was so hell bent to have her daughter all to herself that she very nearly deprived her of unconditional love from her "other" family.

I did want to smack her a few times mostly to wake her up and tell her to lock that cowboy down and kiss reason into him.

That said, there was some good side lovin' with both Julie's sister Sally and her brother Eli finding love. I really enjoy when there are parallel love stories going on and everyone is in on the action.

Want a great, sweet cowboy read with funny dialogue and tame loving??? This would be a great series Julie Donovan wants a change. After years of not being able to get pregnant and an unhappy marriage, Julie settles for divorce.

In a night of a drunken haze, she has a one night stand with a soldier named G. A week later, her husband begs to be taken back and Julie agrees.

Nine months later, Annie Donavan is born. One look at Annie, with a silver streak through her hair, and Julie's husband is out of her life for good.

Perhaps your second tip off should have been when the introductory skit implies that it may have been straight-to-cable.

And yes, it has somewhat questionable acting. And yes, the plot is ridiculous. But let's like, face it man So this movie is cheesey beyond all cheese.

And I mean that in the best possible way. It is hardly a movie that will leave you rolling over in pain from belly laughing, but the chuckles are constant and regular.

This film was clearly intended to be a fun way to pass 90 minutes of your life, and for me, it succeeded in that - in spades.

I'm glad I watched it and would thoroughly recommend it. Some movies are so bad, they're good. This one is so bad It's the perfect storm of terrible acting, cringe-worthy cinematography, and really poor writing.

And, did I mention the terrible acting? I assume this was some kid's high school film project. As such, I guess it's not a bad little effort.

If somebody was really trying to make a movie, though, that's a shame. I should mention a couple of pluses: the story nicely adheres to some traditional morality, and out of nowhere the film includes a horseback mounted barbarian.

For what purpose, you ask? I have no idea, but it seemed funny at the time. All that can be said of this film is that you will pass 90 minutes of your life without having to think too hard.

It was probably perfect for late night TV in the dorms. Possibly the best Canadian sex comedy featuring a recovering alcoholic leprechaun trapped in a beer bottle that doesn't even show up until 15 minutes into the film that was shown on USA's Up All Night ever made.

One person found this helpful. But only this version. I though it was pretty funny and was only a little mad for not firing up the VCR after about 10 minutes.

I only wish they had released this on DVD sooner. I saw that it had been remade and a new cast and all, do not get the remake.

This is the one to get. Very funny about a drunk leprechaun and how he tries to grant three correct wishes and gets it wrong. Wish I could have found a drunk leprechaun in a bottle in High School Buy this movie and get "Cheerleader Ninja's" while you are at it.

You will like them both. Troma films are usually over the top strange, dirty, gross, stupid but worth watching for a while. This had nothing going for it.
